We have been married for over 25 years, had the usual challenges everyone faces and have come out the other side stronger and hopefully wiser. Our children are independent; Kate 24 years is at Tas Uni studying to be a teacher and Alex, 22 is studying Agriculture part time via distance through Charles Sturt Uni whilst assisting in the Management of a farm in the Fingal Valley.
Glenn’s background is in retail and wholesale liquor and mine is pharmacy. Whilst we have owned our own business and worked together for almost 20 years we have no background in Agriculture. We do, however, have a passion to run our businesses in the most professional way that we know how. We try to put ourselves in the shoes of our customers and give them a product that we are happy with.
I work part time in the Swansea pharmacy and volunteer with Tasmanian Ambulance Service. I cross the T’s and dots the I’s, no short cuts allowed! Hopefully you can taste this in the wines.
Glenn also looks after the nancial side of our business and sells our wine on the East Coast (we have a distributor in other areas of Tasmania and Melbourne).
Kate is our social media expert and looks after our Instagram and Facebook accounts. is is crucial given we have no idea how to drive social media.
Whilst Alex commenced a viticulture degree he has swapped to straight agriculture to assist with his management position on the farm. His growing skills and knowledge are invaluable. Alex also assists in our vineyards in his spare time. He also volunteers with the local re brigade and SES.
My Dad Alan is also a regular worker in the vineyard. He is happy to do anything, and is the reason our vineyard usually looks so beautiful.
In addition to this regular help from family we are also very grateful for the locals who come and pick our grapes each year and to Peter and Gill who assist with pruning.
Marty Smith, from Absolute Viticulture is a constant source of technical advice.
